Making space for healing, growth and what comes next.

A warm, supportive space to slow down, feel understood, and move toward a life that feels more like your own.

About me

Hi. Iโ€™m Matthew.

Most people call me Matt. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A), born and raised in Texas. I am also a husband and father.

Before serving as an individual therapist, I worked as a PHP/IOP group therapist serving clients ranging in age from child/adolescence to geriatric for about a year and a half. During this time, I discovered my desire to make the transition towards individual therapy - a place where intentionality, compassion, and healing could thrive.

Life can be strained by the stressors we face today, while experiences from our past can sometimes continue to shape the challenges we encounter. I hope to provide a therapeutic experience centered on understanding where you are, exploring what may be contributing to those struggles, and developing a life increasingly centered on peace.

โ€œHope means hoping when things are hopeless...โ€
— G.K. Chesterton

Matthew Terra, M.Psych. (Clinical) LPC-A, is practicing under the clinical supervision of Stephen, LPC-S (Texas License #76227), as required by the Texas LPC rules. Regulated by the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council.

How I work

Clinically Informed. Rooted in You.

Your therapy should begin with youโ€”your story, your experiences, and what you hope to work toward. My goal is to combine evidence-based treatments with a client-first perspective, allowing us to work together in a way that feels both intentional and personal.

You set the pace. We walk the path together.

01/ Approach - Integrative and Eclectic

  • Rather than holding fast to a single approach to therapy, treatment will draw on multiple schools of thought. CBT and DBT are both beneficial, as they provide evidence-backed techniques and skills to aid in responding to your triggers. Person-centered and humanistic approaches will help to keep you and your experiences at the center of treatment. Psychodynamic therapy seeks to help you delve deeper into the past and explore how past experiences may shape current struggles. Together, you will find a treatment that is centered on you.

02/ Posture - Compassionate Pacing

  • Accompanying you into treatment might mean addressing past traumaโ€”some of which you may be addressing for the first time. Given the pain and discomfort that can accompany this healing process, therapy will move at a pace that feels appropriate for you.

03/ Faith - Client-Directed Faith

  • If desired, therapy can offer you space for your personal faith, spirituality, or values as part of the therapeutic process. As a Catholic therapist, Iโ€™m comfortable incorporating Catholic or Christian perspectives when they matter to you, and I welcome you regardless of your faith backgroundโ€”or whether you identify with a particular faith at all.
